Tips for getting them right

  • Think about the era. A Baroque concerto points to Bach, Handel, or Vivaldi; a ballet suggests Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, or Prokofiev. Our Musical Eras pages show who belongs where.
  • Look for national clues. Titles in Italian often point to an Italian opera composer; a "Hungarian" or "Slavonic" title hints at Liszt, Brahms, or Dvořák.
  • Learn from the wrong answers. Every answer links to that composer's page, which lists their other famous works - the best way to get the next question right.

When you're done, the composer recommender can suggest someone new to explore, and our guide to the most famous pieces is good revision.
