Classical Unpacked ("this site," "we," "us") is a reference guide to classical music eras, forms, composers, and instruments. It is owned and operated by Stuart Mathieson, an independent web developer from Scotland, who is responsible for the site and can be reached at [email protected]. This page explains what data is collected from visitors and how it's used.

Advertising and cookies

This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on a visitor's visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

Visitors can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, visitors can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting optout.aboutads.info.

What this site does not do

This site does not require account registration, does not run comment sections, and does not knowingly collect names, email addresses, or other personal information directly from visitors. There are no user accounts, newsletters, or forms on the site beyond the contact email address, which visitors provide voluntarily by choosing to send an email.

Server and analytics data

Like most websites, the hosting provider may automatically log standard technical data for security and troubleshooting purposes (e.g., IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps). This site does not currently run its own analytics software; if that changes, this policy will be updated to describe what's collected and why.

Content delivery and fonts

This site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes technical request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver pages quickly and protect the site from abuse. Its fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means a visitor's browser requests them from Google's servers. Both providers handle that data under their own privacy policies.

Third-party links

Pages on this site link out to third-party sources for further listening or reading - for example IMSLP, Musopen, Archive.org, and Wikimedia Commons. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which this site has no control over. Visiting a linked external site is subject to that site's own privacy practices, not this one.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time, for example as advertising or analytics tools change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
